Village Development Project Dhading

The Dhading project started in 2002. The target group of our work was the underprivileged Kumal community. The ethnic group of the Kumal are Dalits, untouchables, who are famous in Nepal for their pottery.

The project started with setting up a Primary School followed by a Health Post in 2007. Dhading provided Little Stars with a learning curve for further projects. The village of the Kumal was a melting pot for all sorts of interests that are typical for Nepal.

Generally speaking projects should be supported for five to ten years at a maximum. Then it is time to hand over responsibility to the village community. In this case eleven years had passed when the community took over responsibility for the Dhading School and Health Post in April  2013.
